Word of the Day: Anchor Text January 16, 2007
I have been reading a lot about building Web pages etc. One word that I have never looked up, however, was anchor text. I didn’t know that anchor text weighed so heavily in your SEO techniques (what can I say, I am a newbie)
Here are two places that explained anchor text a lot better than I could. The first just describes anchor text and the second is anchor text optimization.
Organizational Tip #2 January 9, 2007
OK. So I really like organization so here is another tip!
#2 Make your “Wish-list” then tuck it away!
Especially when you are just starting out, money should be spent with the up-most caution. When you are drawing your sketch of what you want your office to look like write in what equipment will go where–and don’t forget to use your wall pace…I will talk a lot more on this later. Write down a list of all of the supplies that you need and then a separate list of things that you want (and be honest). This will help you not only make your dollar stretch, it will help you not to purchase duplicate equipment, furniture and supplies. Don’t be afraid to let your office can grow with your business.
Positive Imaging January 8, 2007
I have been reading a lot lately and one of the books I just finished was Power of Positive Imaging, by Norman Vincent Peale. It was a great book for me to read. I have been noticing how the slightest negative thought can really be destructive to you and others around you. This book explains the practice of positive imaging in most any circumstance. Peale mentions the outline, or formula if you will, of positive imaging and I want to share them here.
1) the goal
2) the purpose
3) prayer activity
4) thoughtful planning
5) innovative thinking
6) enthusiasum
7) organized hard work
8)always holding the image of success firmly in your mind
These things are not easily accomplished but, like anything, if you practice you will see the fruits of your labors. For more in-depth understanding, pick up the book and give it a try. I encourage you practice harnessing the power of your mind and for once in for all stop that negative thinking!
Organizational Tip #1 January 8, 2007
This blog will have many tips that will help you become more efficient in the office. I love organization. I love the freedom it gives you as you gain “more” time and make small changes in your life that not only empower you, but truly help you feel happy and accomplished.
#1 The Start Up Set Up
So many times we have our noses in our business plan and all of the other planning we forget to plan for other things like the set up of our office space. Your office space is your home away from home (or maybe it’s even in your home
) This space should not only have the necessary equipment that an office should have, but it should be placed in the most efficient and effective places.
Do a quick check of electrical outlets and draw a brief sketch of what you want your office space to look like. (This can be done for those of us that already have our office spaces set up too. It’s never too late to be more productive.
Do this before you even purchase your first piece of equipment. Where can the equipment be placed to enhance workflow? If you use your fax machine a lot, don’t put it on the other side of the room from your desk. Is there a big window in your office? Make sure that the sunlight won’t affect your ability to work due to glare on your computer screen, getting too hot or getting headaches.
Getting organized does not happen over night. It takes time and planning. Just remember to start where you are and never let an opportunity pass you by to better yourself and your business.
Tag! I’m it! January 3, 2007
Well, thanks to Michael Eagar you get to know some strange and wonderful facts about yours truly
#1 My husband and I breed snakes and sell them.
I can’t go in to all of the particulars at the moment because we are trying to get a business license and the city of Provo is making it very difficult to do so. However, if you want to learn more, check out our site at www.Suboc.com .
#2 I am the poster child for car wrecks!
I think I stopped counting after I hit the double digits! I have either been a driver or a passenger and for the record…NONE of them have been my fault
I feel very confident in stating the fact that I have a great work to do on this earth and no amount of car wrecks is going to stop me
#3 I was a dance teacher for several years.
I love to dance! I have not taught dance in a few years, but I am a student in salsa and will also pick up swing again in January. I have many favorite styles. They all have their own beauty. I love the softness and extension of lyrical but also the ######## funk of hip hop and jazz. I am versed in many different styles of dance and they are all just as beautiful as the next! I could never pick a favorite…
#4 I LOVE chocolate!
I swear there was a time in high school where I would have a chocolate protein shake for breakfast, a Snickers for lunch and then chocolate ice cream for dinner! Those were the good ‘ole days
I am probably not too far off from the truth actually… I have cleaned up my habits since then, but I will NEVER stop loving chocolate.
#5 I have a real passion for photography.
I have always loved taking pictures and seeing what I could do different the next time, what angles I could come up with and took pride in hardly ever centering my pictures
I took a couple of photography classes in college and I have been severely hooked ever since. I loved getting to develop my own pictures. I have a couple of professional photographers in my current ward and I am trying to glean and learn from them all that I can. I am waiting to get my dream SLR camera (hopefully) soon… My love for photography comes in handy for our snake business too because I like doing nature photography and am not afraid of getting down eye level with animals (and people for that matter
and doing trying new things!
Well, I hope that I still have friends after this post and that you aren’t afraid to carpool with me
Comments are welcome!

Happy New Year January 3, 2007
Well, I have tried switching blogs a few times in the past few months, but I have settled back on this one.
Please change your blog roll to this url.
2006 has been a very challenging year and I look forward with great excitement for 2007. I can’t help to think that this feeling of renewal, joy and fresh courage for the year to come has much to do with spending the previous month or two pondering on the Savior and the true meaning of Christmas and what His life means for us.
Thanks to everyone for showing me encouragement and support by your actions and thoughts. I hope you all have a wonderful new year with more resolve to do what is right, become people of action and tackle your challenges head on!
